To learn more about the secrets of Italian painting, Irma offers full immersion courses in Italy, housed in her Studio with accommodation provided in “Bed and Art” within the same building, an old country house surrounded by countryside.
Courses are offered throughout the year and are set up on reservation for groups and individuals.
It's the perfect art holiday - learning the secrets of Italian painting whilst at the same time experiencing the country's culture and nature.
Irma also offers courses on reservation in her second studio in England, in the beautiful scenery of the Isle of Wight.

You will paint one wood panel (size 45X60 cm) with an ornamental subject using prepared materials. You will study: color theory, theory of shadows, carryover of the drawing, painting techniques. These techniques can be useful to those wishing to decorate their own homes.
At the end of the course you will have notes on theory, exercises to do at home and a participation certificate from the Italian Art Studio.

Trompe l'Oeil Techniques

You will paint a landscape with an arch with foreground (Canvas size: 100X120 cm) using prepared materials. You will study: color theory, theory of shadows, carryover of the drawing, painting techniques, and perspective. Your painting will create a surprising optical illusion in your home.
At the end of the course you will have notes on theory, and a participation certificate from the Italian Art Studio.

HOW TO GET
Train or flight: you can get to Bologna by train or by plane. I can come pick you up at the railway station or airport.
Car: If you arrive by car, take the A1 motorway Bologna-Florence. Take the Rioveggio exit after Bologna and follow signs for Monzuno. You will arrive in the centre of the village travelling downhill along a narrow road. In front of you is a bank. Turn left. At the gas station turn left into Via Capezzale. The first stone building on your left is my home. You have arrived.
